Bechtle UK Software–now on Facebook


Bechtle UK are now present on the ever growing Facebook. I’ve never used it before but I think it could be a great way to improve contact with our customers and partners so I bit the bullet and set the page up Smile

I’m going to use the Facebook page to:

  • Tell people when we’re running events
  • Tell people about any offers we have
  • Give people another way to ask questions on software

and more.

I like having contact with companies on Twitter and I think Facebook may well be a better, richer experience.

Bechtle Q2 Earnings


I don’t mention Bechtle too much as I like to keep my blog all about the technology but we’ve just released our 2010 Q2 earnings reports…and it’s pretty impressive :-)

Headlines:

  • Revenue up 16 per cent in Q2 to 375.0 million euros
  • EBT grows by 61 per cent to 11.0 million euros
  • Executive Board optimistic concerning further development
  • The IT system house & managed services segment reported a revenue growth of 12.8 per cent
  • the IT e-commerce segment contributed to this positive development with 23.1 per cent
  • Earnings after taxes skyrocketed by 72.6 per cent

Our Executive Board Chairman, Dr Thomas Olemotz said:

“…we continued to grow encouragingly in the second quarter. We gained market shares and further increased the dynamics of the extremely strong first quarter to a significant extent”

An interesting point made is that the economic upturn is “much stronger” in the e-commerce side than the system house side (system house being the service, install etc arm).

We expect the economic recovery to continue throughout 2010, although not at the same pace.

All in all, the Bechtle group is in a great position as a large, European powerhouse with increasing revenue and profit. We’ve also increased our headcount to over 4440 this year.

It’s always nice to see one’s company doing well, especially coming out of the recession :-)

First Event

The first webinar is tomorrow so it’s not much notice (sorry!) but the agenda is:

This session will cover the business benefits of deploying Windows 7, from both an administrator and user perspective covering things such as:

  • Enhancing security
  • Flexible working

and more. The session will also cover Windows 7 Enterprise, Software Assurance (SA) benefits & Windows Server 2008 R2.

As well as myself, our Account Manager from Microsoft will be hosting the event too so there will be a chance to ask questions/give feedback directly to MS…which is always nice :-)

Bechtle @ Bett 2010


BETT “is the world’s largest educational technology event” and Bechtle will be there for our 2nd year 13th-16th Jan 2010. It really is a very important event in the world of Education…

95% of exhibitors at BETT 2009 felt they met a good quality of visitor at the show

88% of exhibitors have said that attending BETT is important to their business

89% of visitors agreed that BETT is excellent for finding new products and suppliers

Last year our stand was hardware focussed, all about Thin Clients, Servers and other such things. This year however is different, as I’ve commandeered quite a big portion of the stand for Software ;-) I’ve been planning recently and, while it’s not 100% confirmed yet the set list looks something like this:

Bechtle & Windows 7 in CRN


As I’m sure you’ve guessed from my blog, I quite like Windows 7 ;-) Thus I’ve been very active in talking to our customers about Redmond’s latest OS and how it can help them. We’ve been working on a number of early deployments since July and this week saw CRN (computer Reseller News) publish an article on one of them :-)
